Eat Out On Less

June 10th, 2009 · No Comments

In today’s economy there is not much wiggle room in many families’ budgets, but that doesn’t mean that you can not enjoy a meal out.  If you have a favorite restaurant, sign up for their email list. Many times you will receive emails notifying you of sales, and some of the emails even contain coupons.

Sign up for the birthday club at your favorite restaurant as well.  Many restaurants will give you a free entrée, appetizer, or even a whole meal, on your birthday.

If you are taking the kids along, look for restaurants that allow children to eat for free.  This can really save you tons of money, if you have more than one child.  If you choose to eat at a fast food restaurant, skip the kid’s meals.  They are often more expensive.  Try buying a regular size meal, and splitting it between the children.

Another way to save money at restaurants is to look for “early bird” specials.  Some restaurants offer a lower price if you eat before a certain time.  This may be a little early for some people, but the savings can be significant.

Finally, check your local Sunday paper. The coupon inserts sometimes contain coupons for restaurants.  If you decide to use a coupon read it carefully, you do not want any surprises at the restaurant.  Many coupons are for a dollar amount off if you purchase a certain number of things, or a certain item.

A slow economy doesn’t have to ruin your fun, by shopping wisely you can still enjoy a night out.
