How to Get Inexpensive Family Portraits

June 21st, 2009 · No Comments

We all love to have family photos made, but it is not always affordable, especially in today’s economy.  If you really want to capture the precious memories of your family, but do not have the extra cash, do it yourself.

If you think for a moment you can probably know the name of a friend or relative that loves to take photos.  Ask them if they would mind taking some pictures of your family.  Most would be glad to, especially if they love photography.

There is no need to worry about a back drop for the photos, head outdoors in your town or city.  There are several places in your local community that would be perfect for photos.  If you live in an area with parks, choose the park that has the best looking landscape.  If you live in a historical area, why not go to one of the attractions.  Many of the historical landmarks will let you enter for free, or a very low price.  As long as you do not ask for a guided tour, you should be able to take your photos there for little to no cost.

The beach also makes for a wonderful photo background.  If you are planning to go on a beach vacation this summer, why not bring the camera along, and take some photos there.  Some of the best photos are really snapshots taken by “every day” people, rather than photographers.

You could always offer to pay them a little for taking the photos, or maybe you can arrange to do the same for them.  The great thing about having your photos done this way is that you get to print the ones you want, without paying the outrageous price per sheet that some photo studios charge.
