I’ve always been a bargain shopper, so one of my favorite places in any store, especially clothing stores is the clearance rack. You can truly get great bargains by shopping them.  Of course, there is a method to the madness.  There is a strategy that you should adopt if you’re going to truly save money by shopping clearance.

Realize that you have to plan ahead.  Most clearance sales are on items that are going out of season.  Therefore you will shop for Christmas decor or Easter decor after that holiday has passed.  You’ll have to put it up for the next year.  You can also plan ahead for your children’s clothing by buying a size up from the clearance rack as the winter clothes will be going on sale just as summer is beginning.

Taking inventory is another step for saving big.  You will want to make sure that you truly need the items that are on clearance.  If your child already has 14 pairs of blue jeans she likely won’t need more.  You will want to make sure that the item you buy will truly be needed and used otherwise you aren’t really saving.

Don’t forget to shop online clearance as well.  Clearance isn’t just found in the stores it is found online as well.  The only thing you must watch out for online is shipping, which can eat up your cost and cause it to be just as pricey as buying full price.  Of course you can look for free shipping coupon codes to help offset this.
