Start Saving For Christmas Now

July 19th, 2009 · No Comments

The year is already half way over, and Christmas will be here in just a few short months.  Go ahead and start saving for it now.  Better yet, start shopping for it now.  In years past, several stores participated in the “lay-away” program, but many had moved away from the program.  However, with the state of the economy, and so many people feeling the strain on their wallet, it seems as if more stores are moving back to the lay-away programs.

If you are not familiar with “lay-away” it is when stores will hold the items that you want to purchase while you make weekly or bi-weekly payments.  When your balance is paid in full, you can take your merchandise home.  If you have a store near you that offers this program, it may be worth while to take advantage of.  The sooner you start, the less “last minute squeeze” you will feel.

If lay-away is not an option for you, start saving a little cash each week for your Christmas list.  If you have a good hiding spot, you can also start buying some gifts now.  In my opinion, it is never too early to begin Christmas shopping.  The more you can do before Christmas, the less tempted you will be to use plastic to pay for your gifts.

Christmas is about more than gifts, but if you are going to buy them, why not do it wisely.
