Do you want to update your wardrobe, but lack the extra cash? There is another option. Why not set up a clothing swap?
If you have friends that wear the same size as you, set a date and have a clothing swap. At a clothing swap everyone brings items they no longer use. Once you arrive, place all of the clothes in a pile and dig in. Everyone gets to choose new items.
You do not have to limit your swap to only adult clothes. You could also swap children’s clothing, toys, a
nd books. We all have a closet full of things that either do not fit us anymore, of have become dated to us. The great thing about a swap is that you get to trade those items for newer ones. Of course they will not be new with the tags still attached, but they will be new to you.
You can bring the kids along, or make it a mom’s night out. You can make it even more fun by having dinner and coffee, or even watching a favorite movie while you swap. If the first swap works out well, you may want to consider making it a quarterly event.
We know that shopping at garage sales and thrift shops are great ways to save money, but free are even better. Clothing swaps really are “win win” situations. You bring your old stuff and leave with new stuff, plus you get to spend time with your friends.
