Where is your “green” thumb?

July 24th, 2009 · No Comments

Do you have a garden?  If not, you may want to consider starting one.  With minimal time, and just a little effort you could have a nice garden that will help cut down on your grocery bill.

It is possible to have a garden, even if you only have a balcony to work with.  Container gardens are super easy and can produce tons of fruit and veggies.  If you are considering starting your own garden, do a little research to find out what type of plants grown well in your area.  You also need to find out when you should pant them.  Once you decide on what type of plants you will grow, next you need to get your supplies.  Check around for sales and deals on things like potting soil, flower pots or containers, seeds, and some small gardening tools.

Plant your seeds, remember to water them daily, and watch them grow.  Not only is it easy on your wallet, but it is also better for your family and the environment.  When you plant your own garden, you know exactly what types of products were used on your garden.  It is also a really fun activity for children.  It is a great teaching opportunity, and they love to help.

For as little as $1.00 for a pack of seeds you could get vegetables for an entire season.  That sounds like a pretty good investment to me.
